Installing wordpress locally
I am installing Wordpress locally, meaning, I will be using my computer as a host for my Web site. This is to prevent me from accessing the Internet during the study period. :p
I just downloaded the latest version of Wordpress (Wordpress 2.3.3). I chose the zip file rather than the tar.gz. shinohada. hehe.
Another thing that I should have before installing the local Web server is the XAMPP. I just noticed today that I have it already installed in the computer I'm using. I didn't take notice of that until today. Haha. What is XAMPP? It's an "easy to install Apache distribution containing MySQL, PHP and Perl". Oh, don't ask me of these things for now as I am just learning about them. I knew MySQL and PHP as I have been hearing about them from hubi, and besides, I've been tinkering my Wordpress blogs for over three years now so I also experienced messing up the PHP of my blogs. I knew little about Apache and Perl. Let me research on that.
I'll proceed first with reading the tutorial on how to install Wordpress locally.
Checking if I got them correctly installed:
1. http://localhost/xampp/
2. http://localhost/phpmyadmin/
3. http://localhost/wordpress/
